Based out of the western suburbs of Chicago, i-appreciate.org was formed as a non-profit organization to make a difference in the world. As the Founder and President of i-appreciate.org, I was tired of seeing the frightening statistics of men and women being abused throughout the world. Domestic violence is something that is very prevalent not only in the United States, but also worldwide. How many of us personally know of someone who was in a relationship where they were abused either physically, verbally, sexually or emotionally?
It is with these emotions that I started i-appreciate.org. i-appreciate.org is not only meant to raise money and awareness for survivors of domestic violence, but it is my sincere hope that this organization will start a social movement. In an age where men and women are subject to the pressures of society, I hope that together you and I can change what is “popular” and promote tolerance and respect towards one another.
i-appreciate.org intends to bring the topic of domestic violence to public consciousness through activeness in the community and the selling of specifically designed anti-domestic violence t-shirts. The shirts that we have designed serve multiple purposes. First, all the proceeds from the sale of our shirts will be used towards numerous services for people affected by domestic violence (e.g. funding DV shelters, funding educational programs, producing informational packets on DV, and much more). Second, it is our sincere hope that everyone will wear the shirts with pride and abide by what the shirts represent. We designed these shirts as “oaths” for men and women to follow. These shirts are an affirmation of respect and tolerance towards one another.
I truly hope that you all join our mission to make a statement that resonates throughout the world. No matter your religion, race, gender, or socio-economic class, we ask you to help i-appreciate.org stand up for what is right, and against what is wrong.
I am looking forward to working with all of you in the future.
Sincerely,
Altamash Iftikhar
